Ok so it has become quite nice to add colour for the second time to my blog.

Thank you Baron for this... I enjoy your blog very much. I like bikes, and I like the fact that you take the time and effort to comment on my photographs. To see Barons Blog please click HERE!

  1. Definitely Italy - with the sun on the blouses/frocks/gowns/pinafores/smocks (i.e. German: Kittel) and enough light on the woman's face to see her expression, this photo gives a deep impression of the woman's life (and to add something to all the comments to "Discrimination": I don't think she thinks this work is not rewarding - but I seldom give to much attention to quotes or titles - I always try to see the photo first and this work looks rewarding to me ;-)). The framing and composition with all the drapery and cloth structure is very nicely done.

  3. I suspect she finds it rewarding, the smell of sun dried clothes is a reward itself. However, it also made think ... we don't see clothes hanging from balconies in Australia, most body corporates ban them and come and tell you to put them away and go use the clothes dryer :-)

  6. Congratulation on the award! Well deserved!
I like the way the lady is doing it. Inside out to protect the colors from fading in the sun. Looks like a hot day - perfect for doing laundry! I enjoy my dryer. The climate here is so humid there is no chance of anything drying ever :) Lovely shot!

  7. She is leaning over and down and out ... I would be grimacing too ... Still after all these years and all these wears, she cares enough to turn her frocks inside out to protect the colour from the harsh sun.

Neither rewarding or not ... just a jobbie to be done ... her role ... her generation.

    Good photo though ...

  8. First, congrats on your award, which I believe to be richly deserved.

Secondly, the photo: The woman would seem to represent many women the world over who have certain tasks to fulfill and do so mostly without complaint. Some are more arduous than others and often without a word of praise.

This is one of those, I think. She's washed her clothes, and now is hanging them out to dry. No big deal. Just part of daily life. Still...she probably wishes for a different daily life?

  9. If the photo above this shows a tired man, this one is the epitome of tired woman.
